Installation & Updates
Preparation
- The minimum requirements should be fulfilled.
- Following directories must be writable. You can check this directly in the Joomla! administration in "Site -> System Informationen -> Directory Permissions".
- /templates/
- /plugins/system/
- /libraries/
- /administrator/manifests/libraries/
- /administrator/manifests/packages/
Download
You can download here the latest version.
Basicly it is enough when you install the pkg_jyaml.zip only. This package file includes the JYAML Framework Library, the JYAML System Plugin and of course the JYAML Default Template.
Installation
- Download the pkg_jyaml.zip and install it in the Joomla! administration in "Extension Manager -> Install".
- After successfull installation go into "Extension Manager -> Templates" and open the Template-Style "jyaml - Default", then click on "Save". With it, the default configuration values are stored in the database and the template is functional now.
- That's it. Now continue read the documentation for further information's. For template developers it is also recommended the JYAML Development Portal.
Note: If you have problems during the installation, you can also install the extensions in the package separately. This archives you can also find in the download area. The necessary files are tpl_jyaml.zip, plg_system_jyaml.zip and lib_jyaml.zip
Update
Before you start with an update, please always read beforehand the Release News in the Blog and the Changelog. These may contain important or special notes about the update process.
Warning: If you re-install a template in Joomla! 1.6.x or in Joomla! 1.7.x, all files will be always overwritten, because an still existing bug in the Joomla! install adapter.
This issue hass been reported here ans should be fixed in the next versions of Joomla!.
This error will be automatically resolved in the JYAML System Plugin from version 4.0.0 RC2.
If your current installed JYAML version 4.0.0 Beta or 4.0.0 RC1, then please install at once the "JYAML System Plugin" before.
- Go into the Joomla! administration in "Extension Manager -> Update".
- Click on "Find Updates". Now, several JYAML packages will appear. These are "JYAML Library", "JYAML System Plugin" and "JYAML Template"
- Now check the "JYAML Library" and the "JYAML System Plugin" and click on "Update".
The "JYAML Template" must be installed separately by handy or with the special Upgrade Function, otherwise your changes will be lost. - After successful installation you can proceed the Template Upgrade.
If you don't see Updates, but a new JYAML version exists, you can load the "JYAML Library" and the "JYAML System Plugin" in the download area an install it with the Extension Manager. The installation will be executed as an update.

- Go into "Extension Manager -> Templates" and open the the detail-view of your JYAML Template.
If your Template contains more then one style, you must open only one style. - Now click on the tab "Upgrade". There should be now the template version marked with red and it is possible to update the template. If this is the case, click on "Upgrade Now".
- Now a Popup is opening.
- Search for an Update.
- Important: It is highly recommended to load a Backup of your template files with the provided download link. If this does not work, make a backup of the template directory via FTP.
- If an update was found, you can follow the next steps. For files that are overwritten, a backup is stored automatically in the same directory.
- After the successful update please check the functionality of your template now. On errors you can compare the backup files with the necessary overwritten files.
